Latest update on Bacchiocchi

The Gregorian controversy about Samuele Bacchiocchi's thesis, "From Sabbath to Sunday," has been going on for some time now.

I commented on the second part of his defence some time ago.

The XCG blog has now got a more detailed commentary on it, which is still continuing.  See comments 80-84, and further on when they come out.

Hobbes' Place has also got a 3rd post on it.

Bacchiocchi says his submission to Gregorian and Bishop Murray will be ready in about 10 days.

My updates and comments on Dr. Bacchiocchi's response to the allegations are still underway at XCG, but I am almost finished with my comments. Probably tomorrow or later this week I'll have something to say about the imprimatur, and then I should be done with my comments.

Yes ... I saw the latest one ... I didn't notice the significant editing done to the e-mail I got and forwarded him. I should step back and look at it from a distance ... I've gotten a bit befuddled with the irrelevant detail Bacchiocchi adds in. The story line isn't a straight line - it's a convoluted maze. I don't have the time now to try to draw up a graphical timeline.

Hmm, maybe I could go ahead and draw up a timeline too. I'll probably have time to do that this week.

If you have the time, you're welcome to ... I think it will take several slow re-reads of multiple source documents, which I can't manage now. I'd do it eventually.

One thing I should point out - I never noticed the Imprimi Potest / Imprimatur switch. I need to look more closely at that one. Just briefly reading through your comments, I get the impression that there was never an Imprimatur for anything ... what was received was a once-off Imprimi Potest. That worsens B's position.
